Enable course self-enrollment

For non-academic courses, it is sometimes beneficial to allow students to self-enroll.  Setting the course to self-enroll allows users to find a particular course and enroll themselves without any administrative intervention. This is particularly useful for community based courses that are ongoing.

This is NOT RECOMMENDED for academic, running course sections.  

To set your course to allow self-enrollment go to the Course Administration > Users > Enrollment methods screen.



From there, click on the middle icon to allow student self-enrollment. If you've done it correctly, the words "Self enrollment (Student)" will turn blue.


Once this is enabled, student can search for the course on the home page in Moodle.
