Rosetta Stone Plus

Rosetta Stone Plus language learning platform is now available to Alliant faculty, staff, and students (unfortunately, Rosetta Stone does not permit alumni access), replacing the Mango Languages product we formerly subscribed to.

To set up an account and begin learning, simply go to the library website (, click Research and then Databases, and scroll down to the R section to find Rosetta Stone.
Logging in:

If you are off campus or on wifi, you may be prompted to log in with your library account; this differs from your network/email login. For your library account, you enter your last name as username and your Alliant ID as password/barcode. If you have trouble logging in, contact and we will get your account set up.
Please note that the Rosetta Stone page includes the following statement that DOES NOT apply to Alliant users: “Rosetta Stone and EBSCO Information Services have combined to offer your library Level 1 of Rosetta Stone courses for 30 different languages. Please do not attempt to access higher levels as they are not available to your library.” Alliant is subscribed to the version that allows access to all levels.
Here is some basic information about the service:
The Rosetta Stone Library PLUS Solution product includes:

  • All Levels per Language
  • 30 Languages
  • Offering 50+ hours of foundational instruction in each level of each language
  • More common languages such as English and Spanish have 5 levels
  • Languages like Portuguese have 3 levels
  • Less commonly sought after languages like Swahili, have 1 level
  • Content more aligned with libraries that are looking for more in depth learning to align with ESL/World Language initiatives
  • Upon completing level 5 of a Rosetta Stone language, the learner will be a B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference Scale (CEFR) or in layman's terms, should be able to read a newspaper cover to cover in the language they are learning.

Common Issues

If you receive an error when attempting to access Rosetta Stone, please review the attached best practices form. Upon login, be sure to select the language you intend on exploring. You will be asked twice and the same language should be selected.  So, if you were in the middle of the Russian course and wanted to switch to Portuguese, you would need to log out and then log in again, specifying Portuguese on the login screen this time

If you have any questions or technical difficulties, please contact .
