What is the difference between an award date and a diploma date?

Thank you.  An award date is the date all degree requirements were met. This is the date that will appear on a student's transcripts.

A diploma date is the date that is listed on a student's diploma.  There are only three diploma dates, the last day of summer, fall, and spring semesters. So if a student's degree was awarded within a semester, they will receive a diploma date that coincides with the last day of that semester. If they finish in between semesters, the student will receive a diploma date coinciding with the last day in the following semester.  Thank you.
